Here at Angletech, we are always keeping an eye out for the newest and most fun component options to put on our trikes. With the introduction of Shimano’s Metrea into the AZUB lineup, we may have finally reached component nirvana.
The Metrea integrated brake/shifter (“brifter” if you prefer) has the fast, low effort shifting we come to expect from Ultegra or Dura-Ace groups, only requiring the strength of a single finger when shifting or braking.
The larger diameter handlebar required to accommodate the reservoir of the hydraulic brakes turns out to be serendipitous, as it creates a more relaxed grip and ergonomic feel. The handlebars swoop forward at a gentle angle, providing the perfect position for the wrist.
If you’re a geek like us, you might be wondering what type of gear range you can get on a 22-speed drivetrain. When you combine a wide range Shimano XT rear derailluer and cassette(11-42 teeth), with the Metrea Double Crankset(32-46 teeth). You get a surprising 18.9 to 104 gear inches, slightly less but comparable to many 30-speed systems.
But hey, quit letting us bore you with technical details. Come visit us and ride it yourself. It will be hard to keep the grin off your face.
