Introducing the Pino 2021!
Let’s focus on the good for the moment. For example, the ever-increasing enthusiasm for cycling! We at HASE BIKES of course are thrilled with this trend – and see it as the perfect timing for introducing our new Pino generation. The new tandems, which can double as cargo bikes or family taxis, bring more joy than ever before. Even more ergonomics and stability for safe and enjoyable riding, and even more versatility for easy parking. Because with their infinitely adjustable length and telescoping mechanism, the Pino’s can be shortened to the size of a mountain bike!
Laid-back and dynamic tandem touring.
With the Shimano STEPS EP6100 or EP8 motor on the Pino, riding fun is guaranteed. The motor is especially helpful when the tandem is being used as a family taxi or cargo bike. But even touring duos appreciate the extra power provided by the STEPS, particularly when cycling up steep hills.
The STEPS battery, mounted neatly in the frame triangle, has a capacity of 504 watt-hours with a 630watt-hour option. This means: maximum assistance for many miles, depending on the selected assist mode, terrain, and rider performance.
The empty battery can be fully recharged in a mere four hours.
First, you’ll see the difference, and then you’ll see the brilliance: the frame design. Like its predecessor model, the new PINO also has a two-part frame. However, instead of a frame joint for taking them apart, there’s an ingenious telescoping mechanism. In other words: you can shorten the wheelbase by simply pushing the two parts together. The front section slides smoothly into the main frame, the geometry remains perfectly aligned, and the slack of the greasy chain is taken up by the frame-quick-adjust assembly.
Thanks to this new technology, the PINO can be parked in any hallway or cellar, requiring no more space than a normal bike. With the handlebars folded down, it can even be made compact enough to fit on any standard rear-mounted car rack.
Even more mind-blowing: the shortened PINO is rideable! At its minimum length, the wheelbase is roughly equivalent to that of a city bike, and the handling and turning radius are more or less the same.
There are also big changes for the little ones! Thanks to the length-adjustable crank arms and a seat adapter, co-pilots as small as one metre in height can simply hop on and start pedalling – no extra crankset is needed!
As a semi-recumbent tandem, the PINO has always had special handlebars. But now, we’ve managed to make them even more ergonomic. The width, angle and height of the new handlebars can be easily adjusted to individual riders. As a result, riders of any size and stature can find the perfect handlebar position.
Two riders or heavy cargo – PINO 2021 has capability to carry. To make the PINO even safer and more enjoyable to ride, we’ve improved the stability in many areas. Furthermore, both cranksets are now roughly 30 mm lower than on the old PINO. As a result, the rear rider’s feet can reach the ground more easily, and the front rider pedals slightly downwards. Everything PINO? Everything PINO!
The Porter Bag is the perfect accessory for using the PINO as a cargo bike. Rainproof, dustproof, foldable and can carry up to 40 kg of cargo. Volume: up to 120 litres. Side note: you can even use the Porter Bag when the PINO is shortened to its near-minimum length. Just push in the adjustable crank arms and position the crankset under the bag, and you will have a cargo bike with the manoeuvrability and small footprint of a normal bicycle.
The Lowrider Rack is mounted under the recumbent seat and makes it possible to carry one small and one large pannier on each side.
