The HP Velotechnik is a ‘low racer’ short wheelbase recumbent.
A low racer has the least amount of you and your cycle exposed to speed robbing headwinds. The elevated crank position relative to the low seat height generates more power from a more complete set of muscles. The aerodynamic seat angle is more reclined than any other format meaning a more supported body over the entire seat length. Less vertical load on your spine and your butt!
There are a few low racer designs on the planet, but the HP Speedmachine is the best built and can be taylored to a speed oriented rider or outfitted for the touring minded rider with maximum efficiency in mind.
BodyLink or 2 types of ErgoMesh seating, 3 cockpit choices, many drivetrain packages, and the suggested HP Concept suspension fork (rear suspension is standard), personalize your HP Speedmachine.
Of those choices, we suggest the Shimano STEPS E8000 as the best system to deliver on your expectations. 80nm of torque with an electronic Di2 push button shifter levels those hills and instant shifting for ultimate confidence.
The GO SwissDrive option offers 5 supporting levels and the included throttle will accelerate up to 6 km/h without any pedaling. The energy is provided by a rechargeable battery with a 636 Wh capacity (36.2 V / 12.4 Ah). An optional second battery can be mounted with ease to double the riding range. In addition the internal regeneration system operated by the brake levers will help you to save energy and to ride longer.
